Coconut Shell Granular Activated Carbon
Higher activity. Harder granules. A cleaner finish.
Made from selected coconut shell, MICOCO is the hardest and most microporous carbon in our granular range — the grade to reach for when trace organics have to come down to very low levels and the carbon has to survive repeated backwashing.
It is used across gold recovery, gas adsorption, soft drink manufacturing, breweries, waste water treatment and drinking water purification, and it can be regenerated once saturated, so the same charge earns its keep over several cycles.
Four activity grades are available. Choose the one that matches your contact time and your target contaminant — the full specification for all four is set out below.

Coal Powdered Activated Carbon
Fine, fast-acting, and built for the refining line.
MICBLAC is a powdered activated carbon produced by steam activation under stringent operating conditions. Ground to pass 200 mesh, it works far faster than a granular carbon because every particle is already at the surface.
It is optimised for edible oil refining — decolourising and the removal of dirt and micro-impurities. Its large pore volume and rapid adsorption also make it well suited to non-edible oil refining and waste water purification.
Two grades are available, separated by iodine value. Choose the one that matches the colour load you need to strip.
MICBLAC — Coal Based Powder
| Iodine Value | 500 (Min) up to 600 / 700 (Min) up to 800 mg/gm | IS 2752 : 1995 |
|---|---|---|
| Moisture (%) | Below 5 | ASTM D2867 |
| Bulk Density | 480 – 500 Kg/M³ | ASTM D1895 |

Where two figures are given they are listed in grade order: MICBLAC M200, then M500.

Wood Powdered Activated Carbon
The highest iodine values we make, and the lightest.
MICWOOD is a wood based powdered activated carbon produced by steam activation under stringent operating conditions. Wood gives a more open pore structure and a much lower bulk density than coal, so it lifts large colour bodies that a denser carbon leaves behind.
It is optimised for water treatment and edible oil refining — decolourising and the removal of dirt, BOD, COD and micro-impurities, and is widely used in non-edible oil refining and food applications.
Four grades are available, from 800 to 1100 mg/gm iodine value. The full specification for all four is set out below.
MICWOOD — Wood Based Powder
| Methylene Blue Value (Min) | 150 / 200 / 250 / 300 mg/gm | — |
|---|---|---|
| Iodine Value | 800 / 900 / 1000 / 1100 mg/gm | ASTM D4607 |
| Moisture (%) | Below 5 / Below 3 / Below 3 / Below 3 | ASTM D2867 |
| Bulk Density | 470 / 360 / 340 / 340 Kg/m³ | ASTM D1895 |

Pelletized Activated Carbon
Low pressure drop. Built for moving air, not standing water.
MICSORB is a coal-based pellet activated carbon. Selected bituminous coal is pulverised, extruded into uniform 4 mm cylinders and then thermally activated, which gives a bed that packs evenly and lets gas through at a far lower pressure drop than a granular fill.
That makes it the carbon for air and gas streams — volatile organic compounds, odours, and harmful gases including sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, mercury, ammonia and hydrogen sulphide.
Three activity grades are available. For acidic gases and demanding breakthrough requirements there is also a potassium iodide impregnated grade, specified separately below.
MICSORB — Coal Based Pellet
| CTC Activity | 30 / 50 / 60 | ASTM D3467 |
|---|---|---|
| Iodine Value | 700 / 850 / 950 mg/gm | ASTM D4607 |
| Apparent Density | 450 – 550 Kg/M³ | ASTM D2854 |
| Hardness | 98% (Min) | ASTM D3802 |
| Ash | 14% (Max) | ASTM D2866 |
| Moisture Content | < 3% | ASTM D2867 |
| Particle Size | 4 mm dia | ASTM D2862 |
Values written as three figures are listed in grade order: MICSORB 30, 50 and 60.
An impregnated grade, MICSORB 60+ KI, is made on the same pellet for acidic gases and other duties where breakthrough capacity matters more than raw surface area. Ask us for its data sheet.

Anthracite Filter Media and Coal
Selected from deep-well minerals. The highest carbon we sell.
ANTHRAZORB is a filter media for water treatment that stands up to common acids and moderate alkalis. It is made from high quality anthracite coal selected from deep well minerals, graded and screened to a good grain shape, then washed repeatedly. It is hard, resists crushing and abrasion, and does not dissolve in acidic, alkaline or neutral water.
ANTHRAZITE is the finest grade of anthracite coal, with the maximum carbon content and correspondingly little ash and sulphur. That gives it the highest calorific value of any grade of coal, and it is sold as a high carbon additive and as a carburiser or recarburiser for steel production and casting.
Both products are specified below. They are graded to different standards, so read the two tables separately rather than comparing line for line.
